Stoke on Trent, 17 August 2015: Parker Software today announces a major upgrade to WhosOn, its live chat and visitor analytics software that marks the next evolution of online customer communications.

WhosOn now features intelligent response, a response enhancement tool that works automatically in the background to detect and interpret keywords and actions in real time as an agent chats with a customer. Visit AVer at stand C650 from the 17th to the 19th of June at the ExCel in London

Milton Keynes, England, 11th June 2014: AVer, a global leader in security, surveillance and video conferencing solutions, has announced its attendance at IFSEC 2014, the UK’s largest security industry event from 17th to 19th June at the ExCel in London.

At the event AVer will be unveiling a number of new products, exclusively available to attendees, and talking to retailers about its award winning portfolio and series of IVAs that deliver complete control and confidence to surveillance operators.

The new product range includes the P5036 NVR, a cost-effective solution for medium-scale businesses that includes hybrid functionality to facilitate smooth transition between technologies, with support for both analogue and digital cameras. The P5036 offers a full range of storage protection via RAID 0, 1, 5 and iSCSI for fast and secure access to data, and with dual monitor support users can view live feeds alongside playback, ensuring uninterrupted operation. As a Linux-based system, the P5036 helps cut down on expensive fees for substantial overall savings, and with free CMS software supplied, multiple users are able to log in at the same time and manage features remotely even when not on site.

Also on show is the 2MP SD2026 IR Speed Dome IP camera, featuring a 20x optical zoom and intelligent IR LED illuminator, which with a range of 100m improves precision and efficiency to ensure that maximum clarity is available at all times, even for distant objects. Together with a 360° movement and two-way audio to contact those around the camera, the SD2026 offers the ultimate in flexibility and control.

The ED5000 Fisheye IP camera rounds off the new products on show – a 5MP camera with fisheye lens for 180° panoramic view or 360° surround view, making it ideals for wide, open areas. A point-tilt-zoom movement together with object tracking ensures that operator’s attention is immediately draw to suspicious activity, and together with smart stream to increase or decrease recording quality for selected areas, and Region of Interest to optimise bandwidth and storage, ensures efficient operation in any environment. The ED5000 is also an extremely cost-effective solution, utilising hardware-based de-warping to avoid the need for expensive software upgrades, and with a complete AVer setup users can benefit from a range of IVA features at no extra cost.

AVer’s IVAs are a big reason why so many people choose an AVer setup. Where other solutions charge a significant amount for features such as face detection, tampering detection, cross line detection and missing and suspicious object detection, these are provided as standard with an AVer setup at no extra charge.

“We’re very much looking forward to IFSEC this year, where we’ll be presenting our new range and discussing the ways in which businesses can benefit from modern security solutions,” said Bentley Lo, UK Country Manager at AVer Information Europe. “We’ve placed a big emphasis on cost-effective operation that doesn’t compromise on quality or functionality, so stop by and see me or one of the team at stand C650, where we’ll be more than happy to talk you through these exciting new developments.”

AVer will be discussing the benefits of its IVAs, demonstrating the new products and offering an overview of its entire portfolio at IFSEC 2014. You find AVer at stand C650 from the 17th to the 19th of June at the ExCel in London.

Designed with child safety firmly in mind, the aesthetically pleasing Tab40C is essential for any classroom using iPads, Android or Windows® tablets in large numbers. Teachers can rest assured these tablets will be charged and stored securely, while maintaining a safe learning environment at all times.

With its rounded corners and edges accompanying smooth, protective covers, the Tab40C is exceptionally well-suited for any classroom with young students.

The AVer Tab40C can safely charge up to 40 tablets across any combination of brands at any one time. Redbridge Primary School: learning about our cultural differences using AVer ClassHD

On October 21st 2013, pupils from Redbridge Primary School in the London Borough of Redbridge prepared to present live via secure video conference to year two pupils across the UK. The presentation, which they called “All About Sri Lanka”, showcased their Tamil culture and traditions. Using AVer ClassHD video conferencing hardware and Janet VC Services (JVCS), Redbridge Primary School was able to link securely and interoperably to schools in Thurrock, Shropshire, Havering and Devon.

Redbridge pupils, whose parents and relatives are originally from Sri Lanka, spoke about and displayed traditional foods and clothes, and taught their peers hundreds of miles away how to greet in Tamil. They performed a traditional Sri Lankan dance for the other schools to enjoy and then took questions from them live about the presentation.

Parminder Kambo, Assistant Head Teacher at Redbridge Primary School, said “The video conference has put a huge emphasis on our pupils’ speaking and listening skills, and in particular presentation skills. For the schools across England that we have connected to, pupils were provided with real life experiences from children their own age who wanted to share their culture. The aim for us was to help children respect each other through understanding and learning more about each other. What better way to do this than via a secure, high quality audio and video link?”

Lynn Bailey, School ICT Technician & HLTA, said, “We have been using VC for over a year now with other hardware products. What I particularly like about the AVer ClassHD is that it’s so easy to use – the zoom function suits the classroom environment really well because I know I only need to press a button once or twice to position it for the best view. The quality of video and audio is much clearer and better than our previous equipment too.”

Comments from the pupils at Redbridge Primary School:

“I liked it when everyone was watching and listening to me, it made me feel happy and excited to show the Sari I was wearing to the other children” (year two pupil)
“I learnt to speak louder” (year one pupil)
“Learning to speak in front of others helped me build my confidence in front of lots of classes, and it made me feel happy to be a role model for my school” (year five pupil)

Benefits to the primary curriculum:

The benefits for the pupils at Redbridge Primary are that they were able to improve their speaking and listening skills and learn to present to live audiences. They learnt to reply to questions asked by other pupils about their culture, and in turn teach their peers to learn to respect each other.

What Redbridge Primary School did to become a National Content Provider:
The school wanted to video conference using a secure, high-quality video link, one that they could use regularly and reliably to connect with other schools across the UK and beyond.

1. They used an affordable VC codec (for the cost of only 3 iPads) – the AVer ClassHD
2. With installation support from AVer and their local council school’s IT unit, the school installed the hardware quickly and easily on their network
3. With support from VCfL (Video Conferencing for Learning), the school registered with Janet VC services (JVCS) and promoted their VC opportunity “All about Sri Lanka” to over 7000 registered schools with VC hardware on the JVCS booking system
4. The school planned a 15-minute interactive presentation and rehearsed with the children
5. Schools across the UK emailed Redbridge Primary to sign up to take part in the conference
6. Redbridge Primary plan to repeat the VC sessions once a term with a different focus around the Tamil community each time

What your school needs to share good practice via video conference:

1. VC hardware – affordable, secure and providing a high quality, reliable connection (see AVer ClassHD)
2. A broadband connection that supports VC (see the Department for Education guidelines)
3. Registration on JVCS

AVer launches the EVC130p, a full HD Video Conferencing solution with 16x optical zoom for unparalleled flexibility and performance

Advanced audio and video functionality ensures seamless operation and consistent quality across a range of applications

  • Class leading wide-angle 67° field of view Point-Tilt-Zoom (PTZ) camera
  • 16x optical zoom brings crystal clear detail to the smallest objects
  • Full HD (1080p) output with 720p content sharing at 30fps
  • Advanced microphone array compensates for environmental factors to ensure consistent, uninterrupted call quality
  • Automatically compensates for bandwidth issues to maintain smooth operation
  • Dual display and remote access and configuration
  • Superb price to performance ratio makes the EVC130p the cheapest of its kind on the market
  • Compact, lightweight design

Milton Keynes, England, 26th March 2014: AVer, a global leader in HD video-conferencing products, surveillance, and presentation technology, has announced the launch of the EVC130p, a full HD (1080p) endpoint video conferencing solution for SMBs and the education and healthcare sectors with a powerful 16x optical zoom.

A slim, lightweight design and feature-rich operation complements the highest levels of performance to offer users crystal clear clarity with no loss of detail, making it one of the most cost-effective endpoints on the market. The EVC130p’s standout feature is its class-leading 2MP Point-Tilt-Zoom (PTZ) camera with a 67° field of view and 16x optical zoom, making it versatile enough for a person-to-person call, a broadcast to an entire room or for precision positioning and focus on objects of interest. With 1080p resolution for main video and 720p for content sharing, both at 30fps, it offers crystal clear clarity with no loss of detail, delivering a no-compromise solution for situations where quality is paramount.

A superb price to performance ratio also means that the EVC130p represents excellent value for money compared to competitor HD solutions, ensuring that this level of quality and flexibility is affordable for any environment.

The EVC130p complements its class-leading visuals with a strong focus on audio, featuring a microphone array system that houses three individual receivers capable of identifying the main audio source and fading out unwanted background noise. Echo cancellation minimises feedback and double-talk from the speaker, noise reduction suppresses ambient noise and automatic gain control adjusts for changes in volume, all of which combine to create a seamless single stream of crystal-clear clarity. And when using the EVC130p in larger environments such as conference rooms and lecture halls, up to four additional microphones can be daisy-chained together, extending its potential application even further.

With a focus on fast and easy setup and operation, the EVC130p is up and running in minutes, and when in use it’s simple to configure the device to cater for a range of uses. AVer’s High Efficiency Lost Packet Recovery mechanism (HELPer) automatically manages bit-rates to compensate for bandwidth issues, so call resolution and frame resend requests are handling smoothly and automatically, ensuring that both audio and video streaming remains uninterrupted. Dual-display mode simultaneously shows video and content on a single screen, a web browser can be used for remote access and control for the camera and codec and it’s straightforward to integrate with existing A/V equipment via LAN, ensuring a degree of versatility that delivers excellent results every time.

“We left no stone unturned with the development of the EVC130p, with our target being to deliver a product that makes no compromise on quality yet offers a degree of flexibility rarely seen at this price point” said Nigel Roberts, Marketing Manager of AVer. “We’re confident that we have delivered a “one-stop” solution to typical video conferencing needs by offering a product that’s equally comfortable broadcasting an entire room or fine details of objects with no loss in quality or performance”.

The EVC130p comes complete with a codec, camera, MIC cables and 3-year warranty, alongside the highest levels of pre and post-sale customer care.

Pricing and availability:

The AVer EVC130p is available now priced at £1,999 excluding VAT.

Oaks Park High School use Video Conferencing (VC) to promote reading for pleasure

Oaks Park High School (OPHS), in the London borough of Redbridge, has been using video conferencing to host children’s author events, allowing its local primary and secondary schools to take part in and promote reading for pleasure. OPHS is a National Janet (UK) award-winning school (2012) for its exemplar use of VC in teaching and learning.

Linda Hayes, Learning Resource Centre Manager at OPHS, has been organising authors to attend her school. She has used a secure and interoperable VC connection, using JVCS (Janet VC Services) booking, and AVer ClassHD. This has enabled the school to connect to other local schools all using VC hardware and share author costs.

Conrad Mason, a children’s author who took part in his first multipoint VC on November 13th, said “The quality of audio and video was excellent, which was great for me to experience because I was able to speak and interact clearly with five schools at once, without having to travel to each of them. It saved me a lot of time and is something I would definitely like to do again.”

Year eight pupils at OPHS school who have taken part in VC sessions, meeting a number of authors including Michael Morpurgo, Anthony Horowitz, Anne Cassidy and Sally Gardner, said “Video conferencing is a great way to meet the authors of books you read and find out about why they wrote the book and ask them questions. Meeting the authors by video conference lets you meet other schools too, and hear what other pupils from other schools think.”

Authors can cost up to £350.00 per half-day to visit a school, though some do offer promotional sessions through their publishers which are at a lower cost or free. OPHS were able to share the cost of one author with four other schools. Manford Primary School, Redbridge Primary, Ilford County High School, and Highlands Primary were all able to meet Conrad Mason and ask him questions about writing, his books and his career. OPHS has connected with over 10 authors over the past year and each time they have been able to share costs with three or four other schools – an excellent way to save money and bring experts into multiple classrooms.

Linda Hayes said “Reading for pleasure is proven to raise a child’s reading level far quicker than just reading to learn. This is why the Redbridge VC Network was established and we are now aiming to bring authors into our classrooms through secure multipoint conference calls on a regular basis using AVer ClassHD. At OPHS we have used a number of different VC hardware products and have found AVer ClassHD to be easily comparable system to other, more expensive units.”

Benefits to the Curriculum:

Encouraging reading for pleasure – what are the benefits?

  • Children who say they enjoy reading for pleasure are more likely to score well on reading assessments compared to pupils who said they enjoyed reading less
  • There is evidence to show that reading for pleasure is a more important determinant of a child’s educational success than their family’s socio-economic status
  • It can have a positive impact on pupils’ emotional and social behaviour
  • It can have a positive impact on text comprehension and grammar

What OPHS did to connect to share authors with local schools
The school wanted to video conference using a secure, interoperable, high-quality video link – one that they could use regularly and reliably to connect with schools locally to bring experts (authors) into classrooms. The solution had to meet safeguarding regulations and offer high-quality audio and video for speaking and listening.

1. They used an affordable VC codec (for the cost of only three iPads) – the AVer ClassHD
2. With installation support from AVer and the school’s IT unit, the school installed the hardware quickly and easily on their network
3. With support from VCfL (Video Conferencing for Learning), the school registered with Janet VC services and booked conferences to local schools via JVCS booking system
4. OPHS contacted publishers and arranged for authors to attend their school
5. OPHS were able to share the costs of authors with other participating schools

What your school needs to connect securely to other schools via video conference
1. VC hardware – affordable, secure and providing a high-quality, reliable connection (see AVer ClassHD from VCfL)
2. A broadband connection that supports VC (see DfE guidelines)
3. Registration on JVCS
